Salary/Hour: $31.97 (rates are dictated by the CBA)
Position Summary:
The Charge Scenic Carpenter is a seasonal hourly position as outlined in the IATSE Agreement classified as a Non-Exempt; IATSE; Full Time Seasonal, Charge Technician and reports to the Technical Director. The Charge Scenic Carpenter is responsible for overseeing and delegating scenery construction projects and coordinating with the Charge Scenic Artist and Technical Director to schedule the flow of scenery from the construction shop to the paint floor and the use of Scenic shop space. Scheduled employment is from August 11, 2025, through November 30, 2025, and December 22, 2025, through April 5, 2026.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
· Oversee and delegate scenery construction projects to scenic carpenters.
· Coordinate, with Charge Scenic Artist and TD, the flow of scenery from construction floor to paint floor and Scenic shop space usage.
· Coordinate production and installation of Scenic elements with other departments as needed (Stage, Costumes, Properties, Puppets, etc.).
· Meet with the Technical Director on a regular basis to coordinate and report on build needs, progress, and design changes.
· Assist in the creation of Scenic shop build calendars.
· Provide input for scenic shop tool and materials orders.
· Working with the Technical Director, coordinating Scenic Changeovers with the Stage Operations Head and other appropriate departments.
· Perform duties as a Scenic Carpenter.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
· Supervision of scenic shop staff and intermittent hires as it directly relates to the production and installation of scenery.
· Keep Technical Director assessed of Scenic Carpenter personnel issues.
· Provide input to the Technical Director for performance evaluation of Scenic shop staff.
· Staff functions include but are not limited to: attendance at orientation and staff meetings as scheduled, regular crew, heads and charge meetings, staff training, and performance evaluations.
· Administrative functions include but are not limited to: creation of crew schedules, and proper expense reporting. Verify employment paperwork for intermittent hires.
· Inventory functions include, but are not limited to: inventory tracking, equipment and shop maintenance, storage maintenance, tracking loans and borrows.
· Research and make recommendations about system improvements.
· Other duties as assigned.
Desired Skills & Qualifications:
- Demonstrated experience in theatrical carpentry and experience working in professional theatre scene shops
- Demonstrated skills in:
- Scenic construction methods and tools
- Read and interpret architectural drawings
- Standard rigging practices for the theatre
- Health and safety practices for the theatre
- Hydraulic/pneumatic and mechanized scenery systems
- Ability and desire to lead work in a positive and collaborative team environment
· Mature, positive, and enthusiastic attitude towards the goal of providing the highest quality work possible in a mutually supportive and convivial environment

· Pre-employment clearances/background checks will be conducted and reevaluated every 3<sup>rd</sup> year of employment.
The primary work location is the well-equipped scenic shop on the first floor of the production support facility. Not eligible for remote work. Not eligible for remote work.
Salary & Schedule:
The Charge Scenic Carpenter is a seasonal hourly position as outlined in the IATSE Agreement. This position starts at $31.97 per hour and includes benefits as outlined in the IATSE Agreement as well as perks afforded to all staff members of Seattle Children’s Theatre. The work schedule is primarily weekdays from 8:00 am – 4:30 pm with occasional evening and weekend work required.
