Seattle Children’s Theatre (SCT) is looking for a Senior Accountant to join our finance team and play a key role in maintaining our organization’s financial health. About the Role

As our Senior Accountant, you will oversee SCT’s financial operations to ensure accuracy, compliance, and sustainability. This position partners closely with the Director of Finance to manage all aspects of our financial processes, including overseeing audits, general ledger management, payroll, accounts payable, and financial reporting. You’ll also support our budgeting and forecasting efforts, monitor endowment funds, and ensure compliance with GAAP and regulatory standards, making this role essential to SCT’s financial integrity and growth.

What You’ll Be Doing:

  •  Audit and Compliance: Lead the annual audit process, maintain compliance with legal and reporting requirements, and ensure accurate business licenses and tax exemptions.
  • Accounting and Financial Reporting: Oversee monthly accounting close, cash forecasting, endowment fund accounting, general ledger management, and payroll processing, ensuring GAAP compliance.
  • Budgeting and Forecasting: Assist in developing SCT’s annual operating and capital budgets, conduct cash flow analysis, and support long-term forecasting.
  • Treasury Management: Ensure adequate cash flow for operations, oversee line of credit, and manage banking relationships.
  • Team Support: Supervise the bookkeeper, contribute to grant applications, and attend Finance Committee meetings as needed.

Who We’re Looking For:

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, or a related field.
  • At least three years of accounting experience, preferably within a nonprofit organization.
  • Solid understanding of GAAP and non-profit accounting principles.
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and commitment to process improvement.
  • Proficiency with accounting software (QuickBooks, MIP) and Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
  • Experience in performing arts or a nonprofit setting is preferred.
